New monitoring system detects contamination early and protects animal health – Kapelan Bio-Imaging brings AI and online imaging to livestock farming.
Clean water is essential for healthy animals and sustainable farming. Yet contamination in drinking water often goes unnoticed until livestock fall ill. The new project ProQWasser aims to change this: combining sensors, artificial intelligence (AI), and digital connectivity to ensure continuous monitoring and early detection of water quality issues.
Smart sensors and AI predictions
Sensors track key water parameters such as pH, temperature, and turbidity in real time, replacing delayed lab tests with instant insights. AI analyzes the data, flags unusual patterns, and even predicts how water quality may evolve in the coming hours or days – giving farmers time to act before risks arise.
Seamless digital integration
Through a standardized API, results are integrated into existing farm management systems. Farmers can access data, alerts, and recommendations directly via smartphone, tablet, or PC, enabling fast and informed decisions.
Part of Kapelan’s Online Imaging Hub
ProQWasser is closely linked to Kapelan Bio-Imaging’s Online Imaging Hub, a central platform for imaging, data analysis, and quality monitoring. Drinking-water data can be combined with barn or environmental imaging to provide a holistic view of farm conditions, supporting animal health and resource efficiency.
Towards a new standard
Beyond a technical tool, ProQWasser is designed to set a new benchmark for water quality assurance in agriculture. Integrated with the Online Imaging Hub, the technology could also be applied in fields such as food production or municipal water supply.
